Council of Science Editors citation style

The 2006 CSE (Council of Science Editors) manual, Seventh Edition, Scientific Style and Format: The CSE Manual for Authors, Editors, and Publishers, describes three systems of documentation: the citation-sequence system, the name-year system, and the citation-name system. The links below provide guidelines for each system.

For a class paper, check to see if your instructor prefers one of these systems or another.

For a journal article, check the journal's instructions to authors to find out which system to use.
