Back to Basics: A Punctuation Review
2 hours

Intended Audience

Anyone who wants a comprehensive review of the basic rules of punctuation, and especially anyone who has ever wondered, “Why is there so much confusion about what’s right or wrong in punctuation?”

Overview

The first of two workshops this summer devoted to helping you brush up on your writing basics, this class reviews the basics of punctuation in a simple and practical way. Using specific situations in which we use punctuation, this class looks at both "rules" and permissible "variations" on those rules for each example context. This systematic approach makes it easy to retain and apply what you'll learn in the class; participants often report that they leave this workshop and start using correct punctuation almost immediately. There will also be time at the end of the workshop for participants to ask their own questions about punctuation use and to work through them together.
