Want to meet with a Writing Center instructor? You have many options:
Overview
The Summer Writing Center offers several non-credit workshops, held in Helen C. White Hall. (We do not offer workshops online.)
Writing Center workshops are free and are open to currently registered UW-Madison students.
All our summer workshops meet just once.
Like the workshops the Writing Center offers during the spring and fall semesters, each of our summer workshops will give you the chance to pick up valuable writing skills in a supportive, small-group environment.
These short-term workshops are not, however, substitutes for regular semester-long writing courses. They do not provide the sustained practice with writing and the critical response that good writing courses do.
Rather, they briefly review general principles about writing and give students opportunities to read and discuss models of particular types of academic writing.
Summer 2012 Workshops
- Back to Basics: A Grammar Review
- Back to Basics: A Punctuation Review
- Resumes and Cover Letters
- Writing Personal Statements
- Summer Writer's Retreat
