Grammar I: A Review of English Grammar

Review the basics of English grammar and discuss common issues such as sentence fragments and passive voice.

Overview

This workshop is ideal for those hoping to build up their vocabulary for talking about English grammar. Alternating between whole group discussion and partnered activities, we'll review some of the basics of sentence construction: subject and predicate, parts of speech, and types of clauses. We will also practice identifying and correcting some of the most frequent grammar mistakes in university–level writing, including commonly confused words like who/whom and its/it's.

Note: This workshop is necessarily limited in scope and will not provide in–depth explanations of all aspects of English grammar and its rules of usage.
