Writing Recommendation Letters

Learn how to write effective and honest recommendation letters for students.

Overview

Do you feel unprepared when your students ask you to write letters of recommendation? As you write the letter, are you uncertain about how much you should say, how many details you should include, and what tone you should take? In this workshop, we'll look at samples of letters from a number of disciplines written for various purposes, and we'll offer advice about writing letters that are honest and effective.

Intended Audience

This workshop is designed for faculty, teaching assistants, and staff who are writing recommendation letters for students.
