If you are planning ahead for the summer courses you are teaching, please feel free to include the paragraph below about our services in your syllabus and additional materials.

The Writing Center at UW-Madison helps undergraduate and graduate students in all disciplines become more effective, more confident writers and believes that all writers benefit from sharing work in progress with knowledgeable, attentive readers. Writing Center instructors are here to work with you at any stage of the writing process—from figuring out a topic or planning out a long-term project, to making major revisions in an early draft, to polishing grammar and style. The Writing Center offers one-on-one consultations between writers and instructors in its main location (6171 Helen C. White Hall), and provides drop-in instruction at our College Library satellite location two nights a week during the 8-week session. For students outside of the Madison area or with schedules that make flexibility necessary, the Writing Center offers email instruction and limited Skype instruction. The Writing Center also offers a number of workshops during Summer Term, as well as a Graduate Writing Group for those who want a place and time to get work done in the company of other writers. Finally, for help day and night, the Writing Center hosts an extensive online Writer’s Handbook. To learn more, visit, call the Writing Center at (608) 263-1992, or visit 6171 Helen C. White Hall.

Please remember that we wish students to voluntarily use our services. If you are hoping to schedule the Writing Center to visit your class, please read more about our Outreach services and schedule your visit here.
