National Novel Writing Month and Academic Writing Month

Are you a creative or academic writer with a large project in mind? Join fellow writers on campus and in the larger Madison community during the month of November as we participate in and celebrate National Novel Writing Month and Academic Writing Month! Your writing goal: 50,000 words by the end of November 2020!

Why join? We know from experience that writing can be lonely and hard, and that the most successful writers often have one thing in common–they make writing a habit! And that’s where community comes in. As you write, there are others alongside you (online, in spirit), supporting you as you build your writing habit and celebrating YOU when you accomplish your goals.

If you’re interested, please sign up through this form by Friday, October 30 so you DON’T MISS OUT on the preparation involved to make this a productive and engaging experience! The Writing Center’s Coordinator of Multicultural and Social Justice Initiatives will be in touch with everyone who signs up to provide encouragement, as well as information about upcoming events sponsored by the UW-Madison Writing Center and Madison Writing Assistance.

Want to know more? Check out NaNoWriMo and AcWriMo web pages or join the conversations on social media via the Writing Center’s Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook and using the hashtags #UWNaNoWriMo #UWAcWriMo. Have questions? Contact Gabbi Kelenyi at
