Inclusivity Statement
The Writing Fellows Program welcomes all identities and strives to provide accessible and inclusive experiences to all UW-Madison students, faculty, and staff. We recognize that we come from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives that impact undergraduate experiences. We understand that university writing practices can privilege dominant cultures, languages, and learning styles in ways that limit student learning and expression. In our policies, peer interactions, and hiring practices, we work to combat all forms of implicit and explicit oppression to keep student voices at the forefront of our work together. Our goal is inclusivity, not the commodification of diversity, and this work requires our ongoing reflection and action. We commit to revising this statement and the practices they reflect as the Writing Fellows Program continues to learn from our best source of knowledge–our students, faculty, and staff.
